Will Fight Relentlessly
For Firefighters
Eric Swalwell
The Executive Board of the California Professional Firefighters met in Sacramento to interview and vet candidates for statewide office seeking the endorsement of the California Professional Firefighters, including the office of Governor. After hours of interviews with each candidate at the District Meeting Town Halls, candidate briefings with the CPF legislative and political teams, 8-hour educational ride-alongs at local fire stations, and exhaustive deliberations among board members, the Executive Board voted to endorse Congressman Eric Swalwell as the next Governor of California.
The Governor is critically important to the lives of firefighters and their families across our state. Not only will the individual elected to this position be responsible for appointing those who oversee the administration of fire protection and emergency services in California, but our state’s next Governor will also have a direct say in advancing policies that preserve the health and safety of CPF members.

Right for Firefighters
Eric Swalwell is a proven leader who understands firefighters – he’s stood with us, fought for us, and delivered results.
Raised in a public safety family and having served the County of Alameda as a prosecutor, Eric brings firsthand experience with the realities of our work. Throughout his career, he has consistently shown up for firefighters at critical moments, standing against station closures, supporting fire-based EMS over for-profit ambulance companies, and advancing legislation that protects firefighter health and retirement security.
As a member of Congress, Eric has co-sponsored key IAFF priorities and has committed to working with CPF on retirement reform, workers’ compensation challenges, and securing long-term funding for critical firefighting services.
During his interview with the CPF Executive Board, Eric demonstrated a clear understanding of firefighters and provided a vision for securing funding for critical firefighting services, like achieving a 56-hour workweek for CAL FIRE firefighters. His record shows he doesn’t just talk about supporting firefighters; he proves it through his leadership and his actions.

Supporting Firefighters
at the Local Level:
As a Dublin City Councilmember, Swalwell worked to ensure a balanced budget during difficult economic times, protecting firefighters and their ability to deliver services to Dublin residents. During the Great Recession when many cities were closing stations and laying off firefighters, no fire stations or firefighters were closed or laid off in Dublin.
As a Member of Congress, representing the East Bay, he spoke out against cuts to emergency resources impacting firefighters in Union City.
Eric has supported the longtime efforts to strengthen the EMS system in Alameda County through the delivery of EMS by the fire agency and firefighter EMTs and Paramedics.
Swalwell has a track record of protecting the public and working directly with firefighters during his tenure in the Alameda County DA’s office.
